Dounia Benslimane

Brief biography

Moroccan, born 5 February 1977 in Casablanca. Medical doctor, graduated in 2003. She works in the field of culture and development since 2008. In 2011, she became the director of la “Fondation des Arts Vivants”, a performing arts organization and the coordinator of an urban arts venue, the Fabrique Culturelle des anciens abattoirs of Casablanca from 2011 to 2013. She is the co-founder of the association Racines in 2010 (www.racines.ma) and its executive manager since March 2003. She managed several projects in Morocco and Africa : General States of Culture in Morocco (cultural policy advocacy project), Artwatch Africa (monitoring the freedom of creative expression on the continent), Afrifestnet (African festival network), debates on freedom of conscience in Morocco, seminar of l’Université Citoyenne of HEM Foundation in Casablanca…She is also a member of the board of experts for the Roberto Cimetta Fund.

She did the European Diploma on Cultural Projects Management of Marcel Hicter Association in 2013/2014.
